SHELTER · STORAGE · DAILY WORK
Build dry storage and a work zone around real household routines.
Storage turns food production into a dependable system. Tools, seed, dry inputs, harvested produce and future feed all need a place that stays dry, can be checked easily and is close enough to use.
Give each material a clear place
Separate clean seed and food-handling supplies from chemicals, wet materials and fuel. Use raised shelves or sealed containers where pests, moisture or spills are possible. Keep the work surface near water and waste routes, but not where winter runoff can reach it.
Plan harvest capacity early
Food preservation depends on time, clean surfaces, airflow, freezer capacity and appropriate tested methods. Start with enough dry, secure space to sort and store what the household already grows before building for a much larger surplus.
